Wicked Quick Treacle Tart


  • 1 9 inch pie crust or shortcrust pastry (see notes)
  • 3/4 cup white breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup golden syrup
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)


  1. Preheat oven to 375 F, 190C.

  2. Prepare, thaw or otherwise ready the pie shell you've chosen.

  3. Combine the breadcrumbs, golden syrup, whipping cream and both the zest and juice of one lemon in a medium sized mixing bowl and stir.

  4. Pour the mixture into the pie shell and smooth out the top if necessary.

  5. Pop into the oven for 35 minutes. Allow to cool a bit before serving.
