That’s right. It’s been 20 years since a little boy with a mop of untidy black hair, round glasses with a broken frame and a peculiar scar on his forehead was brought into the lives of the muggles who came to know and love him.
“He’ll be famous–a legend–I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in the future–there will be books written about Harry–every child in our world will know his name!”
To celebrate, I chose to go with a nail design representing my house, Ravenclaw! I thought it’d be fun to show some Hogwarts house pride what with the house color editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone coming out from Bloomsbury this month for the 20th anniversary. Have you seen them? Definitely check them out! They’re a delight to behold and come in both paperback and hardcover.
If you want to recreate this same design in your own house colors, it’s quite simple! Use the main color for your base and then, using a very fine brush, draw two parallel lines together in the upper corner with your house’s accent color. Try to imitate the way the ties or scarves look in the movies.
“He couldn’t know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: ‘To Harry Potter–the boy who lived!'”
How are you celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter?
